The safety, wellbeing, and best interests of every child is the primary consideration in any Mudyin program or activity involving children.
All children have the right to be safe, respected, valued, and heard.
Aboriginal children have the additional right to cultural safety — to maintain connection to Country, community, and culture.
Child abuse and neglect in any form is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Staff, volunteers, and contractors must complete the required Working With Children Checks before working with children.
People working with children must understand and fulfil relevant NSW child protection obligations.
Staff and volunteers who work with children must hold the required Working With Children Check. Reference checks and police checks should be completed for relevant roles.
Mudyin staff, volunteers, and contractors working with children should sign and follow a Child Safety Code of Conduct.
Children in Mudyin programs must be supervised appropriately. One-on-one contact between a single adult and a child should be avoided wherever possible.
Programs involving children should be designed and delivered in culturally safe ways that support identity, family, community, and connection to culture.
Relevant staff and volunteers must understand mandatory reporting obligations. Serious concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing should be reported to the NSW Child Protection Helpline (132 111) without delay.
No child should be photographed or recorded without written guardian consent. Photographs of children must not be published online without explicit permission and child-safety review.
Mudyin staff should not communicate with child participants through personal social media accounts. Digital communication must follow an appropriate online safety process.
Mudyin staff and relevant volunteers should complete child safeguarding training before working with children and refresh it regularly.
